Archery and Zip Wire at Bowley Scout Camp 11th October

We all met at Bowley Scout Camp in Great Harwood on a lovely sunny October morning. First up was Archery and our instructor for the session was Dave. After the safety talk it was time to see who was going to give Robin Hood a run for his money.Owen, Connor and Kai were first up and were not too shabby. Next up was Sean, Luke and Reece, me thinks this lot has done it before, then Lillia and Hayley had a go. Phil, Franc and David were all claiming it was years since they had last tried archery but I think there may have been a ringer amongst them. After lots of practice goes we split everyone up into teams.Team 1 (Robin’s no good) were a work in progress,Team 2 (Boy’s in the hood) had potential, however Team 3 (Just too good) were the winners of a gingerbread man each.

We had taken a packed lunch and sat in the camp grounds to eat it. The tuck shop was open and hot and cold drinks are available. There was plenty of wildlife around with a little brown mouse joining us for lunch.

Up next was the Zip Wire. Owen the instructor did his safety talk and got everyone kitted up. First up was action man Luke followed by his brother Reece, next was Sean who screamed all the way down followed by 5 year old Kai who loved every minute of it and told me he definatley wanted to do it again in-between playing monster hunt. Connor’s excitement was infectious and everyone raced back for another go. Lillia decided she was going to play dress up with the harness and helmet and Owen got to the launch platform.

A good day was had by all and next Saturday we go Tubing at Ski Rossendale.
